Dr. Morvarid Alaghmand, Former IAAP Treasurer
Dr. Morvarid Alaghmand is an Internal Medicine specialist, practicing in Maryland since 2008. She studied medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She performed her Internal Medicine training (residency) at Interfaith Medical Center, affiliated with SUNY Downstate in New York.
Dr. Alaghmand’s research is on bone and skeletal disorders, vitamin D deficiency, diabetes and interventional radiology. She is one of the authors of a textbook called “Image-Guided Interventions”. She is a diplomat of American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a member of American College of Physicians.
Dr. Marjan Alaghmand, Former Vice President for Membership
Marjan Alaghmand received her PhD in chemistry from University of Maryland, College Park in Feb. 2007. She has obtained her BSc. in applied chemistry from Sharif University of Technology and MSc. Degree in chemistry from Shahid Beheshti University (Melli University). She was a postdoctoral research associate at chemistry department, Purdue University. During her postdoctoral research, she collaborated with numbers of scientists at University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Indiana University, University of Wisconsin Madison and State University of New York on both analytical and atmospheric chemistry projects. Dr. Alaghmand has published several peer-reviewed journal papers and presented in various international conferences.
Her research interests and activities include cancer therapy, Immunotherapy, cancer diagnosis, toxicology, climate change, air pollution and its health and environmental impacts. Dr. Alaghmand is a member of American Chemical Society (ACS) and American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS).
