Synopsis:

The main cause of periodontal disease is bacterial plaque, a sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth. However, factors like the following also affect the health of your gums:

* Smoking/Tobacco Use
* Genetics
* Pregnancy and Puberty
* Stress
* Medications
* Clenching or Grinding Your Teeth
* Diabetes
* Poor Nutrition
* Other Systemic Diseases

In this lecture, Dr. Soolari will discuss the following topics:

About the speaker:
Dr. Soolari earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Dentistry in 1990, where he received several academic awards. He received his postdoctoral specialty training in periodontics from the Department of Eastman Dental and Master of Science degree from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York. He achieved the distinction of Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 1997.
Dr. Soolari is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Postgraduate Periodontics Department at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.
